Clinical Research

Clinical research is regularly conducted in our practice with strong links to a number of universities. At various times our patients may be asked to take part in one of these projects when suitable. Please note: there is absolutely no obligation for patients to take part in any of these projects.

Current Projects Conducted at BCPI:

  1. Alveolar Bone Grafting – this project investigates various bone grafting materials that can be used to augment deficient a jaw bone to allow for future dental implant placement. Project lead: Dr Jamil Alayan
  2. Immediate Dental Implant Placement – this project assesses the outcomes of placing dental implants immediately after tooth removal. Project lead: Prof Saso Ivanovski
  3. Systemic Antibiotics & Periodontal disease – this project investigates the use of the latest chemotherapeutic agents in the management of periodontal disease. Project lead: Dr Rod Marshall

RESEARCH ASSOCIATES

Brisbane City Periodontics and Implants has an educational affiliation with a number of universities including Griffith University and the University of Queensland and James Cook University. This affiliation is for the purposes of research and education. At times patients may be asked to participate in a study under the care and supervision of our senior periodontists and in collaboration with post-doctoral research fellows. There is no obligation for patients to accept participation. Their decision is always respected.
