The registered Dental Hygienists at BCPI can often play a role in the patients’ initial non-surgical periodontal treatment. More commonly, the hygienist participates in the ongoing periodontal maintenance. The hygienist will carry out preventive and therapeutic care under the supervision of the periodontist managing your specific needs. Almost all appointments with the BCPI Hygienists will also be reviewed by one of our periodontists.

The Hygienist helps reach sustainable, stable periodontal health through oral hygiene education and instruction, mechanical debridement (scaling) and polishing.
